Save The Date: Tuesday, June 28, 2022

Event on: 2022-June 28th 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM

After three long years, we’re looking forward to celebrating our work with you for the first time in three years! On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, our 13th annual Luncheon will present our Champion of Justice award to Walter Lomax and the group of Maryland exonerees whose tireless efforts helped pass a bill to compensate wrongfully convicted Marylanders. We will also recognize Amazon with our Defender of Innocence award for their incredible pro bono work, featuring more than 120 lawyers in 14 countries. No other company or law firm has devoted more people to our work.

We’ll also be celebrating the work we’ve done since our last Luncheon in 2019:

  • Winning freedom for eight innocent clients;
  • Exonerating eight clients, including two who had already been out on parole;
  • Helping to pass five new laws, including compensation for exonerees in Maryland, and a bill that will allow MAIP to obtain investigative files it needs for its clients under Virginia’s revised and fortified FOIA law.
