Case Update: David Faulkner

Since 2012, MAIP has been working to free client David Faulkner and his co-defendant Jonathan Smith who have now spent 15 years in prison for a murder they did not commit. Despite compelling physical evidence proving their innocence, the State of Maryland continues to fight to keep David and Jonathan in prison. In April, our team of attorneys finally had the chance to stand up for David and Jonathan in court. Lawyers from Gibson Dunn, Skadden, Latham & Watkins, and the Innocence Project – working around the clock during 12-hour court sessions – presented evidence of David and Jonathan’s innocence, as well as significant government misconduct. The legal teams have dedicated thousands of hours to this compelling case, and we are waiting for a decision from the judge.
