MAIP Is Growing!

We’re Joining Forces With the UBIPC!

MAIP is pleased to announce that we’re consolidating operations with the University of Baltimore Innocence Project Clinic. With this new affiliation, Michele Nethercott, the talented Director of the Clinic, joins the legal team at MAIP. We will incorporate all UBIPC cases into MAIP’s existing rigorous five-stage evaluation process, and the two organizations will together on litigation efforts.

Join us on September 29 in Baltimore as we officially celebrate! MAIP and the UBIPC will host a day-long conference on wrongful convictions in Maryland to start a dialogue with prosecutors and law enforcement, followed by an evening fundraiser at the Univ. of Baltimore’s Law School to support our new joint Maryland Expert Fund.

And speaking of Michele Nethercott, we send Michele (pictured, right) and her client Malcolm Jabbar Bryant (pictured, center) a huge congratulations on his May 11th exoneration! Malcolm spent nearly 18 years of a life sentence for a fatal stabbing he did not commit. Michele spent eight years fighting for Malcolm’s freedom, and after six rounds of DNA testing, they were finally able to prove that he could not have committed the crime.
