McAlister leaves prison 29 years after wrongful convictions
It’s been a rough, decades-long haul for Michael Kenneth McAlister since a young South Richmond woman misidentified him as her assailant in a 1986 abduction and attempted rape.
Pardoned earlier Wednesday by Gov. Terry McAuliffe, 29 years after the wrongful convictions, McAlister stepped outside the Dillwyn Correctional Center into a beautiful spring evening and freedom.
