This year’s Annual Awards Luncheon was our biggest event yet, with over 300 guests. The event was supported by 42 corporate and individual sponsors, as well as many individuals.
We hope you enjoyed the Luncheon. It’s always so inspiring to hear from our exonerees and their families. But, as our mission guides us, we are determined to not only correct the conviction of innocent people, but also prevent such injustices in the first place. This goal requires altering the “win at no costs” culture of so many prosecutor’s offices, of which Marty Stroud spoke of so candidly. Yes, there is more work to be done—but we meet that fact with determination, as John Chesley spoke of so passionately, in his promise to keep fighting for the freedom of David Faulkner and Jonathan Smith.
Our Annual Awards Luncheon raises the greatest source of income for our work to provide free, timely legal services to incarcerated citizens who maintain their innocence. This year, we exceeded our goals for sponsor revenue and ticket sales, and raised over $260,000 to continue our work. Thanks to everyone who gave a gift; we cannot do what we do without the generous support of people like you.
We are still working to meet our goal of raising $21,000 in honor of the 21 men we’ve helped exonerate, so if you were not able to join us, or had to leave early and were unable to give at the Luncheon, please donate now!
